Why use a database?

Individual newspaper, magazine and journal articles are not included in the Library's catalog, PrattCat, though it does contain records of magazine, newspaper and journal titles.

Use databases:

  • To find the full text of articles from journals, newspapers, and magazines.
A growing number of databases in Pratt's collection provide the full text of articles.

  • To find citations or abstracts of articles from journals, newspapers, and magazines.
Most electronic indexes and databases provide citations and abstracts for articles.

For help selecting the appropriate database for your research, you can browse a complete list of Databases by Subject, or a complete A to Z List with description.
